Photo2Press is a complete workflow with both frontend and backend modules. It's flexible and modular designs allows several business scenarios. You can choose whether to use the Photo2Press dedicated frontend, or to integrate your existing frontend with a Photo2Press backend.
The Photo2Press system allows detailed job tracking for the print shop and the broker. The job can be submitted directly from end consumer or retailer. The broker only needs to handle the economical transactions. He doesn't need to handle any physical products. Production control builds on standard JDF format.
One Photo2Press system can route print jobs to multiple hp Indigo presses. Jobs can even be printed at remote sites - this is a good feature to handle production peaks or as a backup if a press breaks down.
Processed print jobs can be submitted directly to the hp Indigo press, stored on a file server for retrieval from the press, or stored on removable disk packs. The last solution allows the press and the Image Flow server to be at different locations.
Photo2Press uses PPML as page description language. PPML is an XML based page language that is easy to integrate in template controlled design tools. PPML supports re-use of background images.
